Holy Dumping Snow!!
So we started off the day as usual. 7 am lattes and a fat breakfast. Veggie scramble and red potato homefries. Shoveled the driveway out as the van warmed up. Rallied out to Donner Pass Rd where Old 40 takes you up to Donner Summit and the multiple local ski areas. CLOSED. First time this season. Rally to Hwy 80 and head up to the summit. It was gnarly. Whiteout a bunch of times...wind, snow, and us.....going boarding. But it was worth it.....We rode powder ALL day. 9 am until the VERY last chair at 4:02 pm. Hucked off of the top of Bacon Bits 3 times (20-30' air), and off the side twice (15-20'). Hucked off of everything in sight. We rode trees a lot and ducked the ropes on Strawberry Fields a few times (AMAZING powder). Every hour your tracks were filled in!! We went to the Belt Room to meet up with Nate Dog who tweeked his shoulder following us to "the cave" for a safety session. Supposedly the highway was closed so we went and had burgers at The Summit. Finally we crawled down the highway...30 MPH to our house where we REALLY had to dig our driveway out (again). What a day!! And it's only going to get sicker as the week goes on.....20-30" forecasted for tonight!!
