Ledge-and-Airy

Woke up early again (7am) as Tex was heading off to work. Lounged on the luxurious back deck, gazing longingly at the amazing cliffs, spires, and towers that seem close enough to touch. Ended up staying there for a number of hours- catching up on writing, sipping coffee, and looking through pics from recent adventures. We finally motivated to do something and that was go get some ice cream!! We shoved down a HUGE amount of cold stone each, reeled for a minute, then headed over to MTBH to suit up for another ride. This time it was Ledge-and-airy. We pedaled from the shop down 89a until we hit the cultural center. Immediately climbing up and over the small retaining wall yielded us our trail. We followed it for a while before dead ending into the gnar. We took a R and immediately it WAS ON!! Techy climbing up and over a TON of rocks- most off-camber. The only time you got a break was when you were ripping down some steep and techy chute. It wrapped back and forth, following the contour of the dry creek below. Lily got bouted pretty good. It is a very challenging skill to climb steep tech gnar, and there was lots of it on this trail. She still had a smile on her face most times she popped around the corner. One last steep downhill and we were back on the Girdner trail which wrapped back around to the cultural center. We stopped and got some shots in the last glimpses of light. Afterwards we headed back to Tex's and made some yummy Mac n Cheese w/ broccoli, and corn on the cob. Tex and I shot the shit on the deck for a while over a fire while Lily lounged inside reading a book. Another day in paradise!!
